Making Navigation Effortless: Interactive Maps and Wayfinding for Events

February 20, 2026

Navigating an event shouldn’t be a challenge. Whether attendees are exploring a large expo, moving between multiple venues, or following a marathon route, clear guidance is key to a smooth and enjoyable experience. That’s where our custom interactive maps and wayfinding platforms come in.

Designed to simplify navigation and elevate the attendee experience, these digital tools make it easy to discover stages, exhibitors, seating allocations, or event highlights - without the need for paper maps.

Key Features That Enhance the Experience

Our wayfinding solutions are fully customisable to suit your space and audience, offering features such as:

  • Interactive floorplans and route maps with click-to-explore navigation
  • Dynamic wayfinding portals built for web or onsite touchscreen use, similar to shopping centre kiosks
  • Custom seating charts with selectable sections and real-time updates
  • Branded design elements aligned with your event identity
  • Integrated media content, including images, videos, and sponsor promotions
  • Analytics and data tracking to understand user engagement and popular locations

These platforms can also integrate with Connected Event Group’s AV and tech infrastructure, allowing live updates, session information, or sponsor content to display seamlessly on digital screens throughout your event.

A Real-World Example: The Melbourne Marathon

We collaborated with IMG for The Melbourne Marathon, to integrate their interactive marathon map into a touch powered app. The map showcased the full marathon route with interactive checkpoints along the way. Participants could explore the route online, click through checkpoints to reveal promotional videos, photos, and route details - creating an engaging, interactive pre-event experience that extended the excitement beyond race day.

Interactive maps and wayfinding platforms are more than tools - they’re a way to enhance attendee confidence, streamline movement, and turn navigation into part of the event experience itself.
