Alex

AV Technician

Meet Alex, one of our hard working AV Technicians here at CEG. Despite only joining the team last year, Alex has quickly developed his event production skills, becoming a key team member and a well known friendly face to many of our clients.

As an AV Technician, Alex is responsible for bringing your event ideas to life using our powerful AV technology. From sharp onscreen images to killer audio, Alex is your onsite expert, taking care of all of your technical needs to ensure you can deliver seamless and memorable events.

While there is definitely no typical work day for an AV Tech - it’s one of the much talked about perks of the job! - Alex generally splits his time between working at our warehouse and onsite at your events. Behind the scenes, Alex and the rest of the technical team prep and de-prep equipment, get briefed on upcoming jobs, load and unload vehicles and drive our equipment across the city. Alex is then onsite to install said equipment into your selected venue, and is part of the technical operations team that controls all of your AV elements during your event. Alex is known throughout the team for his outstanding initiative, his incredible work ethic and willingness to go the extra mile to ensure our service is exemplary and our clients look good.

Having known he wanted to work in the events industry for quite some time, Alex received a very warm welcome upon joining the CEG team and from the get-go has felt right at home, stating that “the entire team feels like a big family and everyone is very supportive of each other”.

Here are some quick facts about Alex:

  • About you: In my spare time you’ll find me playing and producing music, tinkering on cars, building model railways and being part of a community effort to restore heritage railways.
  • Favourite event that you've been a part of and why?: I've enjoyed a lot of the events I’ve worked on so far, but my top two to date would be, Pepper Money Pepperfest and Avalon Airshow 2023 because the variety of equipment involved allowed me to do multiple types of AV work at one event, adding to my experience and helping me perfect my skills!
  • Favourite event or moment working at CEG: Definitely becoming good friends with my co-workers and travelling to Brisbane, Canberra and Melbourne (having never previously travelled interstate before!).
  • Advice for someone wanting to join the industry: The industry is so diverse and there’s a huge amount of opportunities available - in my experience the only way to know what your technical speciality is, is to dive in and get experience with an AV company to understand what you do and don’t enjoy. Once you start, those initial work opportunities can lead to many more and a world of options and career paths open up to you.
