Meet Nico, (yes just one name, just like Beyonce & Cher!) one of our incredible event producers and an account manager here at Connected Event Group focusing on digital and hybrid events. And just like those amazing singers listed, boy can Nico sing! She's a trained singer who you might find killing it on stage at your next wedding or corporate event.
Nico first joined the team back in 2020 after the world was thrown off its axis during the pandemic and her role has evolved as the business has. Originally, Nico joined the team in a traineeship position as an Event Curator however, after attending TAFE, knew she wanted to work with clients in event production and relationship management. It was a case of ask and you shall receive for Nico, because not long after, Nico began working as an event producer and in late 2022 her role expanded to include account management.
Like any role in the events industry, Nico’s day-to-day tasks vary. One day she could be creating quotes, brainstorming with clients to help plan an upcoming event, developing technical run sheets and on others, she may have to conduct virtual tech checks or hold speaker and event rehearsals. As part of Nico’s role as an Event Producer, she’s responsible for collecting and checking any required digital assets and content from clients for live streams, making sure everything’s running to plan on event day and will often be the event Show Caller. And because she’s a natural in front of the camera, you might sometimes see her face as the onscreen event host or interview.
Here’s what Nico had to say when we asked her what she loves about her job:
“Because I love people, I feel like this role was made for me! I really enjoy chatting with my clients, finding out their needs and coming up with creative ideas or suggestions. I have learnt so much about audio visual technology which has been a goal of mine since I started studying. I’ve had opportunities to be onsite with my clients, call a live show or an in-studio broadcast, problem solve and present to the camera, which really feeds my creative soul.
I have always loved events - as a performer I see events as a mini show (because they are!) so this job has been the perfect mix of creativity and corporate for me. One of the main reasons I love my job is because of all the people that work at CEG and our management team. Connected Event Group is a really inclusive workplace, we come from all walks of life and everyone’s so approachable and happy to share their knowledge. We have a hybrid working model and they are a family friendly workplace which is such a relief when you have children. Interstate events mean I also get to travel a bit which is a nice treat (it also means a guaranteed sleep - see my previous comment about children)!”
