Cushman & Wakefield Hybrid Conference 2021

The Challenge

The IFM ANZ Division of Cushman & Wakefield – a global commercial real estate services firm - traditionally hosts their yearly leadership conferences at a central location either in New Zealand or Australia. This year, with the unpredictability of travel restrictions in place, the prospects of hosting an event entirely in person were low, driving organisers to re-think how they delivered their strategy conference.

After experiencing a long year witnessing zoom fatigue and many challenging, long and unproductive virtual meetings, the Cushman & Wakefield leaders reached out to our Digital Events team to help them change up their strategy and redesign a multi-faceted hybrid conference to help achieve their goals of “bringing people together and re-connecting”.

The Solution

In order to bring as many people together as possible, C&W wanted to create a fully integrated hybrid event across 3 separate hybrid locations in Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland. Each location hosted a live audience ranging from 30 - 70 which allowed the live attendees to network and workshop ideas in person during the breaks. All three locations were connected live to one another through multiple camera shots and sophisticated audio solutions which allowed communication to flow easily from each group to the other.

With a focus on connecting all the groups, our team also set up cameras which focused back on the audiences in each location, opening up the virtual conference “space” during the breakout sessions, allowing the virtual attendees to experience the live event in unique new and exciting way.

Our experienced producers on the ground at each location were able to ensure the smooth running of the physical events while communicating with our Sydney based stream director who was able to choreograph the complex, multi-live stream web across all three locations.

The Results

The 9 hour event featured 13 speakers and a number of interactive breakout sessions which resulted in 7 group leaders presenting separate pitches to the live and virtual audiences.

By integrating all three hybrid event locations, we were able to seamlessly connect the 150+ C&W staff members across the ANZ region and offer the those unable to attend any of the physical locations the opportunity to still participate and experience the conference.

Using this event format, Cushman & Wakefield were able to not only engage and motivate their staff, but to work collectively to workshop, discuss and set in motion the company’s ambitious 5-year sales plan.
